The development of China’s Aerospace traces back to 1956, with the establishment of the Fifth Academy of the Ministry of National Defense. Thereafter, the nation constructed the Jiuquan, Taiyuan and Xichang Satellite Launch Centres, and successfully launched its first artificial satellite, Dongfanghong-1, in 1970. This achievement marked a significant milestone of nation’s aerospace endeavours.

With the advancement of aerospace technology, China continues to venture into the vast cosmos by implementing the Manned Space Program, Lunar Exploration Program and Planetary Exploration Program, in 1992, 2004 and 2016, respectively. These space missions exemplify China's rise as a major space power.
