The first meteor shower in 2022, the "Quadrantid Meteor Shower", will reach its peak in the early morning on January 4. The zenith hourly rate (ZHR) of the meteor shower can reach 120. The condition of observation will be excellent as moonlight will not interfere with the event, making it one of the most favourable meteor showers in 2022. However, due to other factors such as light pollution from the city, observers in remote areas might see 10-20 meteors per hour during the peak in fine weather.

When the Earth passes through the debris left by a comet traveling through the Solar System, a large amount of debris falls into the atmosphere and forms a meteor shower. Since these debris are from the same origin, all meteors emanate from the same point called the radiant. The attached image was taken by a foreign photographer in Slovenská in 2020, this image shows the Quadrantid meteor shower on the south-western night sky while the radiant is located at the east-northern. Hence, the meteor trails are nearly parallel and coming from the top to bottom.

In early January, the radiant of the Quadrantid Meteor Shower will rise in the northeast at about 1 am. More meteors should be seen when the radiant is higher above the horizon. The best observation time is at about 4 am to 6 am on 4 January.
