Have you ever heard of the expression, "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"? While Mars is associated with the Roman god of war, Venus, the brightest object in the night sky, is named after the goddess of beauty. If we won't be living on Mars any time soon, could we settle on Venus instead?

Venus is the second planet from the Sun. Often called Earth's twin, it has a similar size and mass as our planet, and some scientists used to believe that Venus housed living things. However, the dazzling Venus is actually the opposite of heaven. With96% carbon dioxide in its thick atmosphere and surface pressure 90 times that of Earth, Venus has such a strong greenhouse effect that raises its surface temperature to 470°C, which boils off all liquid water in a flash and even metal couldn't stand and melt at this temperature. Moreover, Venus is covered by toxic sulfuric acid clouds. Needless to say, we humans or other living organisms we know can't survive on such a planet. In the last century, a number of probes also failed to survive on Venus because of its harsh environment.

Scientists are still arguing whether Venus is a habitable world and seeking signs of life on it. Nonetheless, no matter how different are the thinking and behaviors of men and women, we all come from the hospitable Earth. And it is currently the only known place nurturing life in the Universe.
