The so-called "Parade of the Planets" becomes visible from now until mid-July this year. The 7 planets in the solar system and the "dwarf planet" Pluto are rarely on the same side of sun. We can see the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn lined up in a clear sky before sunrise. Astronomical observation experts can also observe or shoot the planets Uranus and Neptune with a telescope (It may be too hard for Pluto)!

Mercury is the inferior planet closest to the Sun. It always appears close to the Sun when we observe from Earth. If you wish to watch the Parade of the Planets, you may consider watching it within 1 week after the greatest western elongation of Mercury on June 16 since the angular separation between Mercury and the Sun will be larger, giving us a higher chance to observe all five planets at the same time. Also, as the waning moon will come onto the stage in late June, a great conjunction between the five planets and the moon will be shown by that time. Welcome to share some photos with us!

The image shows the simulated positions of the planets above the Victoria Harbour seen from the Central Ferry Pier at 5:00 a.m. on 16 June 2022. The numbers in the brackets are the attitudes of the planets at that time. Saturn is not shown in the image as it will be located at 54 degrees above the southern horizon at that time.

Observing Tips
👀:the naked eye is all you need
📍:go to a site near your home that is most suitable to catch the sunrise
