To cultivate the interest in astronomy and space science among the youth generation in Hong Kong as well as enhance their understanding about the development and achievements of space technology in China, Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce have organised the "Young Astronaut Training Camp 2024" to select thirty local secondary school students to undergo astronaut training programme in Beijing and Jiuquan. The training camp is organised by the Hong Kong Space Museum and in association with the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre.

The camp is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series.
